Adobe Ventures into AI Video Generation, Seeking User-Submitted Content

Adobe is embarking on a quest to develop its artificial intelligence text-to-video generator, aiming to keep pace with competitors after OpenAI showcased a similar technology. The software giant is enlisting the help of its network of photographers and artists, offering them compensation to submit videos depicting various everyday actions and emotions.

Adobe Taking the Next Steps to Gather Video Assets

With plans to integrate generative AI features into its suite of creative software, Adobe is taking steps to gather video assets for AI training. The company is incentivizing its community to contribute short clips capturing people engaged in activities, expressing emotions, and interacting with objects. However, it has cautioned against submitting copyrighted or offensive material.

The compensation for submissions averages around $2.62 per minute of video, with potential earnings reaching up to approximately $7.25 per minute. This initiative underscores Adobe's commitment to advancing video-generation technology, which it plans to discuss further later this year.

In a bid to differentiate its AI models, Adobe emphasizes training them primarily on its extensive library of stock media. While it has previously procured images directly from contributors, it is now extending this approach to video content.

The move highlights the significant data requirements underlying AI models, with Adobe seeking to leverage user-generated content for training purposes.

Evolving Landscape of AI-driven Content Creation

As Adobe ventures into the realm of AI-powered video generation, it seeks to harness the creativity of its community while advancing the capabilities of its software suite. This initiative represents a strategic move to stay competitive in an evolving landscape of AI-driven content creation.
