Elon Musk, the CEO of xAI, revealed that the artificial intelligence startup's chatbot, Grok, will now be accessible to all premium subscribers of the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
This expansion comes after previously being limited to
Premium+ subscribers.
Elon Musk Announces Expansion of xAI's Chatbot Grok to All X Premium Subscribers
The announcement was made via a post on X, with Musk
withholding further details.
The decision to widen access to Grok coincides with Musk's
broader strategy of reducing the platform's dependence on advertisements and
focusing on more appealing subscription models.
In a recent development, Musk also mentioned that xAI would
make Grok open-source, following a legal dispute with OpenAI over its shift
towards a for-profit model, allegedly deviating from its original mission.
Grok Aligns xAI
This decision to open-source Grok aligns xAI with other
companies such as Meta Platforms and France's Mistral, which have embraced
open-source AI models.
It is anticipated
that making Grok's code accessible to the public will encourage experimentation
and foster innovation in the AI community.
